Service Terms

These terms explain how technology-support requests, estimates, appointments, remote sessions, and repairs are handled.

Effective September 13, 2026

The short version

  • The scope and price are confirmed before work begins.
  • You must be authorized to request work on the device, account, or network.
  • Backups and recovery have practical limits.
  • Phone and tablet repairs require compatibility and risk review first.

Scope and estimates

Tidewater Home Tech provides technology support to households, home offices, and small businesses. The services offered are limited to the technology work described on this website and in the written estimate or service record.

The standard onsite minimum is $250 and includes normal core-area travel and up to the first 60 minutes onsite for eligible, well-scoped work. Remote support starts at $150. These are labor prices. The cost of any required parts or equipment will be added to the service price. Extended travel, third-party charges, taxes when applicable, and work beyond the approved scope are also separate.

An estimate may change if the actual device, condition, access, compatibility, symptoms, or requested outcome differs materially from the information provided. Any revised scope or price must be approved before additional work begins.

General handyman, electrical, plumbing, alarm or surveillance, locksmith, permanent wiring, wall-mounting, structural, and permitted trade services are not offered.

Customer authorization and access

By approving service, you confirm that you own the device, account, network, information, or equipment involved, or that you have authority from the owner to request and authorize the work.

You are responsible for providing lawful access, working credentials when required, available recovery methods, and accurate information about the equipment and problem. Do not send passwords, passcodes, multifactor-authentication codes, or security codes through the website form, text message, or email.

Data, backups, and recovery

Technology service can involve risks to files, settings, accounts, and device availability. You should maintain a current backup of important information before service whenever the device allows it. If no usable backup exists, that limitation will be considered when the work is scoped.

The $250 hard-drive file-recovery service covers an initial assessment and one standard recovery attempt on one drive. The service fee is for the time and work performed and remains due even when some or all files cannot be recovered. Suitable destination storage, adapters, parts, extended work, and third-party specialist services are separate.

Reasonable care will be used, but no backup, migration, malware-removal, account-recovery, or data-recovery result can be guaranteed. Some information may already be damaged, unavailable, encrypted, incompatible, or controlled by another provider.

Physical hard-drive repair, clean-room recovery, digital forensics, evidence preservation for litigation, and guaranteed recovery services are not offered. A specialist may be recommended when the request requires those capabilities.

Remote support

Remote support is offered only for suitable requests and through an approved support method. Identity and authorization may be verified before access begins. You can observe and end the session, and you should close private material that is unrelated to the work.

Remote support does not guarantee that a problem can be resolved without an onsite visit, equipment replacement, internet-provider action, manufacturer support, or another specialist.

Phone and tablet repairs

A phone or tablet repair is accepted only after the exact model, condition, requested service, compatible parts, and practical repair risks have been reviewed. A device that is incompatible with the available tools, parts, or process will not be accepted for that repair.

Important repair disclosure. Opening or repairing a device may affect a manufacturer or retailer warranty, water-resistance rating, protection plan, or eligibility and value for a future trade-in. A repair cannot guarantee that a manufacturer, retailer, insurer, carrier, or trade-in program will continue to treat the device as unmodified or eligible.

The proposed parts, known limitations, price, and any repair-specific warranty will be explained before you authorize the work. Pre-existing damage, prior repairs, corrosion, frame damage, unavailable parts, locked devices, or hidden internal conditions may prevent or change a repair.

Parts and equipment

Compatibility is evaluated using the information reasonably available, but manufacturer specifications, software support, subscriptions, account status, and third-party systems can change. No part or product will be represented as compatible when that compatibility cannot reasonably be established.

Customer-supplied parts and equipment remain subject to their seller or manufacturer terms. Any business-supplied parts, markup, return limits, special-order conditions, or part-specific warranty will be identified in the estimate or invoice.

Payment, cancellation, and scheduling

Payment timing, accepted methods, deposits when needed, and any project-specific milestones will be stated in the estimate or invoice. Unless a different written arrangement is approved, payment is due when the agreed service is completed.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, contact Tidewater Home Tech as soon as possible. Any cancellation, special-order, diagnostic, or nonrefundable charge will be disclosed before it applies.

Warranties and service limits

Any labor or parts warranty that applies to a service will be stated in the estimate, invoice, or repair record. Manufacturer, retailer, carrier, software, subscription, internet-provider, and other third-party warranties or service commitments are controlled by those third parties.

Technology can fail for reasons outside the approved scope, including age, hidden damage, unsupported software, provider outages, account restrictions, later updates, malware, and changes made after service. No result is promised beyond the written scope and any written warranty provided for the specific work.
